Entertaining your kids can be tough. Oh, and expensive. When it comes to the weekend, many parents find it difficult to come up with plans on how to keep their kids occupied for hours on end, and, unfortunately, the options aren’t always the cheapest! Cinemas, aquariums, soft plays, eating out, and toy shopping trips can be expensive! However, sometimes they are the only way parents assume they can fill their weekends whilst also keeping their kids entertained. We will stop you right there! Movie marathon, of course! Sometimes, the best way to keep your young children entertained and occupied is by pressing play on the TV, and nothing screams enjoyment more than laughter! So, prepare yourself, and your streaming services account, for a weekend or evening of fun. Hey, you may even catch some of these favorites on live TV! (Click here for TV aerial installation). Now, without further ado, let’s jump into some of the best kid’s movies (well, in our opinion anyway).
To kick off the list of best funny kid’s movies, all we have to say is…Minions! The look and vocals of these tiny, disruptive, and bright yellow characters are enough to make any child laugh. Focusing on super-villain Gru, his squad of minions, and his newly adopted daughters, this film franchise has been an extreme success since its release in 2013. Follow the team on their adventure to steal the shrink ray from Gru’s rival, and if the kids enjoy it, then why not follow on with the other films in the franchise!
Though some may believe that this is a film that should only be seen in December, we disagree. Elf, starring Will Ferrell, is a fun-filled film that can be appreciated at any time of the year. Buddy, a life-size elf from the North Pole who travels to New York City in search of his biological father, is the central character of the film. He brings silliness and nonsense anywhere he goes, making it a light-hearted watch that anybody can enjoy. This means that you can easily watch along and laugh out loud alongside your children!
School of Rock
Let’s face it, Jack Black can turn any movie into a comedy, particularly in School of Rock! Black’s portrayal in this Paramount Pictures film as Dewey, a financially unstable failing guitarist who has been evicted from his flat, has been credited over the years. We’ll begin by setting the scene. Dewey transforms a classroom of students into a rock band by mimicking his ex-roommate as a teacher. Is there anything else we need to say? Make sure to watch School of Rock today for some hilarious entertainment, it has got to be one of the best funny kid’s movies to date!
If you haven’t seen this popular Disney film, where have you been, and why have you not introduced this older classic to your kids already!? The famous storyline focuses on scuba divers who kidnap Nemo, a little clownfish, and the adventure his overprotective father embarks on to recover him and return him home by swimming across the ocean. However, it is not as simple as one may imagine. Along the way, Marlin (Nemo’s father) encounters a vast variety of rare sea species, which, to be honest, fill (and make) the entire film! Let’s face it, who doesn’t love Dory and Crush as well as many others? Make sure to watch this 2003 blockbuster with the kids and the memories will be sure to flood back!
Well, it is the season to be jolly, so we thought, why not mention another Christmas film! Again, this is another film that can be watched all year round in our opinion, and Kevin McCallister will leave everyone in fits of laughter with his crazy, yet creative, antics. Kevin always dreams of being independent and doing things on his terms. However, unluckily, his dreams become a reality as he wakes up one morning during the festive season and his parents (and the rest of his household) have mistakenly left him as they jet off to Paris for Christmas. However, the town’s wet bandits certainly don’t make living alone easy for Kevin, that’s for sure!
Answer us this, name a more iconic duo than Shrek and Donkey? That may be difficult! Shrek is a timeless classic, it will never get old, and it will always be entertaining. When Shrek’s habitat is invaded by fairy tale creatures, he decides that the only way to get his home back is to visit Lord Farquaad, the Lord of the kingdom. Bringing Donkey along for the journey may be an instant regret for Shrek, but it certainly provides all of the laughs for the audience. Shrek’s success has been huge, so why not check out all of the films while you’re at it!

Join their travels and adventures by watching this hit film, and trust us, they aren’t the only funny characters you will come across!
