Juuzou Suzuya is the protagonist of the Tokyo Ghoul series. He played an anti-hero in Tokyo Ghoul and most of its sequel Tokyo Ghoul:re before becoming a major protagonist in the finale. He is a C.C.G. Special Class Ghoul Investigator. He used to go by the name Rei Suzuya, but he changed it over time. He is now a member of the CCG and has become somewhat infamous within the organization. In Japanese, he was voiced by Rie Kugimiya, who also plays Ka Ryo Ten from Kingdom and Maxey Whitehead in English. Juuzou is a young man with an unusual appearance, to say the least, and was initially misidentified as a girl. He has pure white hair with red hair clips on his bangs and dresses in a multicoloured outfit that includes a bright pink button shirt with different coloured buttons and light/dark blue mix strapping on his black trousers. When in combat, he also wears red dress shoes and standard issue CCG Battle Armor. After the time jump in Tokyo Ghoul, his hair has turned black and he appears to be dressed entirely in black. Juuzou also has a prosthetic leg on which he carries his knives during battle. He appears to have curled his hair into a back knot following the events of the Auction Operation. His outfit consists primarily of a black shirt and pants with red markings and a red emblem on the side.
Juuzou was once a normal child, but that changed over time. Juuzou’s understanding of emotions and morals had been destroyed by Big Madam’s treatment, and he no longer feels pain or fear as a result. He lacks moral understanding of what is right and wrong, and he has been treated as an outcast and has few social interactions as a result of being blamed for killing animals by a psychotic Ghoul Investigator despite no evidence. When Juuzou returns to the main office, he acts very childish and playful. This is due to his mixed personality, in which he appears nice but has very violent and destructive tendencies, and will lash out at any opponent and kill them in brutal and inhumane ways.
